James Cameron is the creator, director, writer, producer, and co-editor of the 2009 American epic science fiction film Avatar. The mid-22nd century setting of the film depicts mankind populating Pandora, a lush habitable moon of a gas giant in the Alpha Centauri star system, in order to extract unobtanium. The plot centers on Jake Sully, a paraplegic Marine sent to the moon Pandora on a special assignment who struggles to decide whether to fulfill his instructions or defend the place he considers to be his home. Overall, Avatar’s acting, direction, and special effects have received rave reviews.
